Common Zinnia propagates by sowing and cutting. The sowing propagation can be done from April to June, and the cutting propagation can also be done in spring. The following are the cutting and sowing propagation methods for Common Zinnia.
Before sowing propagation, soil and seeds should undergo strict disinfection treatment to prevent pests and diseases during the growing period. In late sowing in early April to June, seed disinfection with 1% potassium permanganate soaked for 30 minutes, rotten leaves matrix with 2 2 1, peat, perlite, river sand made from two hybrid, used 1000 times 0.05% potassium permanganate and formaldehyde disinfection, soil can be used high temperature fumigation, kill the bacteria, insects and grass.
Before sowing propagation, the substrate is wet and then sown on demand. common zinnia is a photophilic flower seed. After sowing propagation, it must be covered with vermiculite.
The seed life of Common Zinnia is 3 years and the germination rate is about 60%. Try to choose the full seeds of one year to improve the germination rate. The sowing propagation date can be determined according to the flowering time. It takes about 75-90 days from sowing to flowering. Seeds can be on demand or removed sowing, need to cover about 1 cm of thin soil, after sowing water, sowing 5-10 days after germination, seedlings grow 2 leaves, 5-8 cm high when transplantation.
It takes 45-60 days from planting to flowering due to different varieties, and the appropriate temperature for growth is 15-30℃. When applying sowing propagation, in addition to the seedlings, they need sufficient sunlight and rain protection. 3 parts of humus soil, 1 part of sawdust and 1 part of river sand can be stirred evenly in the upper pot of planting.
At the temperature of 21-23℃, 3-5 days can be germination, germination period does not need light, germination bed to maintain 50%-60% water content, not too wet, so as to avoid root rot or cataplasia.
Common Zinnia can also be propagated by cutting, usually in spring. Side buds can be used from the root of Common Zinnia. The selected side buds are about 10cm long, and then the side buds are directly inserted into the loose soil.
And press, keep cuttings stable, proper amount of watering and moisturizing, generally after cutting propagation about 10 days to the side of the bud will take root, and so on in 30 ~ 45 days can be potted.
