Configuration characteristics of Rubber fig

Rubber fig is a tree, 20-30 meters high, DBH 25-40 cm; The bark is grayish white, smooth; It is  epiphytic when young, branchlets stout. Leaves are thickly leathery, oblong to elliptic, 8-30 cm long and 7-10 cm wide, apex acute, base broadly cuneate, entire, surface dark green, bright, abaxially light green, lateral veins numerous, inconspicuous, displayed parallel; rubber fig petiole is stout, 2-5 cm long; Stipules are membranous, dark red, up to 10 cm long, with annular scars after exfoliation. 

Rubber fig is in pairs in leaf axils of deciduous branches, ovate-long elliptic, 10 mm long, 5 -- 8 mm in diam., yellow-green, basal bracts hooded, deciduous with a ring trace at base; Male flowers, gall flowers, female flowers in the inner wall of figs; Male flowers are stipe, scattered on the inner wall, perianth 4, ovate, stamen 1, anther ovoid, not with filaments; Rubber fig has 4 gall perianths, ovary smooth, ovoid, style subterminal, curved; Female flowers are sessile.

The achene is ovoid with a small tumor on the surface, style long, persistent, stigma swollen, subcephalic. Flowering period is in winter.

Rubber fig is produced in Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, North-East India (Assam), Myanmar, Malaysia (northern), Indonesia (Sumatra, Java).Wild in Yunnan, China (Ruili, Yingjiang, Lianshan, Longchuan) at 800-1500 m.

Methods of Rubber fig propagation

Rubber fig is propagated by seedlings or cuttings, layering. The fruit ripens in October, for the hidden head fruit, after collecting compost, into the cloth bag, knead in water, rinse out the seeds.
