Propagation methods of Peacock plants
The Peacock plant has two kinds of propagation methods, namely split plant and cutting plant. Master the correct operation method of each propagation method, and do good maintenance in the later period to cultivate new plants. This article focuses on the two propagation methods of the Peacock plant, and it hopes to help flower lovers.
Preparation before Peacock plant propagation
1 Preparation of soil
The energy needed by flower plants during their growth period is basically obtained from the soil, and the quality of the soil directly determines the growth potential of flower plants. Therefore, it is very important to choose a good soil for planting flowers. Peacock plants prefer to grow in loose, breathable, well-drained, humus rich and slightly acidic soil. This type of soil fits in with Peacock's habits and promotes root development and allows the plant to grow strongly.
Suggestions: according to the Peacock plant like loose in, good ventilation, drainage slightly acidic soil to grow this characteristic, we can use the rotten leaves in 3 1 1, peat and sand mixture preparation, and we can also appropriately add some bone meal when making up, in order to increase the soil nutrient content, so preparation of soil not only contain certain nutrients, with good air permeability performance is very conducive to Peacock plant growth. But the coarse sand of 3 centimeters or so had better be on the pelvic floor shop when the basin serves as a drainage layer, which can be very helpful for later periods so drain won't appear the circumstance of accumulation of water.
2. Choose flowerpots
Peacock plants belong to shallow root plants, so when planting need to choose shallow and larger diameter flower pots, and because Peacock plants like wet not waterlogging characteristics, so in the choice of flowerpot but also pay attention to the drainage, breathable performance.
Proposal: the leaf of Peacock plant is bigger, leaf color is richer, to foil the distinctive glamour of leaf had better choose to contain bottom hole, show the white porcelain flower pot with better permeability, let the white of flowerpot and the dark green of leaf hand in photograph reflect, look do not have once beautiful scenery. It should be noted that the new flowerpots had better be rinsed with water before use to better remove the dryness of the flowerpots and ensure the cleanliness of the flowerpots to create a good and clean growth environment for the plants, so as to better promote the growth of the plants.
A Peacock plant division propagation methods
Split time: The best split time is in the Peacock plant in early summer, when the temperature is stable at 20 ° C and the best split time increases the survival rate of young plants. If the temperature is too low, it is easy to damage the root system during plant separation. Once the root system is damaged, the whole plant will not grow well in the later stage. Too high a temperature can easily burn the leaves of Peacock plant, which is not conducive to the survival of young plants.
In addition to the early summer season, the plant can also be separated in the basin-changing operation around April in the spring, which is also very conducive to the survival of the seed plant, and can reduce the secondary damage of the root system, so as to promote the growth of the whole plant.
Method of plant division: First detached the mother plant from the soil in the basin. When detached, turn the pot on its side, then hold the plant by hand and gently pull it out. After taking out the plant, properly remove the old soil on the root system.
Then dig up the old roots of the plants that grow more thickly, and divide the underground tubers with the disinfected cutter. During the segmentation, about 3 bud points should be reserved in each section, which is conducive to the germination of new buds.
After the above two steps are completed, potted plants can be planted. The separated sub-plants can be gently planted in the new pot and soil, and then some water can be poured appropriately to ensure the soil is in a moist state. Finally, they can be placed in a ventilated place for curing.
During curing, it is necessary to avoid direct glare and give some astigmatism irradiation appropriately. In addition, the temperature should be controlled at 20℃ or so to avoid the temperature being too high or too low, which will affect the survival of the sub-plant.
Cutting propagation methods of Peacock plant
Cutting time: the best cutting time and plant separation time, are more suitable in the early summer season, because the early summer season regardless of temperature or light, which are very conducive to the growth of the Peacock plant. Choosing this period of cuttings can greatly improve the cutting success rate.
We need to pay attention that the winter is colder, the temperature is too low, and this time is not suitable for cutting operations. If forced cutting plants, we need to do temperature increase measures, the temperature control is 20 degrees or so before.
Cuttage method: Firstly selects a vigorous and disease-free branch from the robust mother plant as the cuttage, the length of the cuttage should be about 8 cm, and three leaves should be kept.
Next the lower end of the branch appropriately do some pruning, cut into an inclined plane to increase the contact area with the soil, after pruning placed in the solution of carbendazole soaked, do the corresponding disinfection measures, in order to avoid late infection germs and affect the root, growth of the branch.
Gently insert the treated branches into the soil at a depth of about 3cm. After the insertion, press the soil at the base of the branches by hand. After the compaction of the soil and the fixation of the plants, an appropriate amount of water is poured into the wet soil, and then put it in the ventilated place for curing.
After cutting, because the branch is still in a rootless state, so can not be directly put under the sun for exposure, so as not to lose a lot of water after the branch, and appear dry, and then reduce the success rate of cutting. It is better to put in the ventilation, light and good maintenance for a period of time, and then gradually increase the light intensity after the root germination and growth recovery, so as to be more conducive to plant growth.
