How to propagate Aspidistra
Aspidistra is green all year round, very suitable for home farming. Its leaves are very beautiful, strong growth, and have a very good adaptability. Many people will grow a pot as a decoration, so how to propagate Aspidistra? We will take a look at the details.
Division propagation methods of Aspidistra
Aspidistra is well suited for home farming and can be reproduced at home, using division propagation methods for propagation. There are many advantages of plant division propagation, such as higher survival rate, easier operation, etc.. But at the same time, it also needs to pay attention to many aspects, including time, method and maintenance.
The time
Aspidistra, generally in the temperature gradually increased, under normal circumstances, will choose in the spring, the temperature rise at this time, and the new bud has not germination, and is also the time to change basin, the operation is relatively simple. Normally, in January or February, the soil begins to recover, and when thawing is complete, the planting can begin.
Operation
Remove the matrix from the pot and remove the excess soil, separating the roots as much as possible, but not damaging the roots. With a sharp knife, cut the plants down the middle. Each plant should have enough roots. Leave 3-5 suitable leaves on each plant and trim off the others to help the plant survive.
Disinfection
After segmentation, because the plant body is relatively weak, very susceptible to infection, so it should be disinfected, using chlorothalonil solution, prepared into 1500 times liquid, the plant in the middle soaked for five minutes. Once removed, Aspidistra needs to be dried before any other treatment can take place. Also it can be in after the upper basin, use clear of bacterium immediately, and prevent virus to plant infestation.
The basin
This plant doesn't grow in areas that are too wet, so you need to add a filter layer to the pot and put the plant in. Go up the matrix that the basin uses, we can choose to have a lot of, can choose according to oneself condition, under normal circumstances, and we need to make sure nutrition is sufficient, and hydrophobic is good. It is necessary to water the pot once after putting it on. If it has not been disinfected before, the root should be poured in time and preserved in a shady place.
Management of Aspidistra division propagation
After the plant is separated, Aspidistra needs to be watered thoroughly once. Because the root is damaged, it takes 3-4 weeks to recover, so water should be less during this period to prevent the root from rotting.
1. Aspidistra is mainly propagated by plant division, which can be combined with changing pot for plant division before the spring temperature rises and the new buds have not yet germinated.
2. The mother plant out of the pot, the root as far as possible to separate the root, with a sharp knife to split it into two or more than two, separated out each plant should have a corresponding root, and the leaves of the appropriate pruning, so that each plexus with 3-5 leaves, in order to survive.
3. Soak the divided small plants in chlorothalonil 1500 times solution for five minutes, then take them out to cool and dry. After the plants are separated and placed in the basin, fill the roots or pour water through once.
4. The growth period should be fully watered, and often to the leaf surface spray, in order to maintain high air humidity. 1 -2 times a month can be applied to thin liquid fertilizer to promote the germination of new leaves and robust growth.
In propagation, attention should be paid to the selection of plant time, the application of division method and the maintenance after division.
