Morphological characteristics of Ludisia discolor
Ludisia discolor plant height: 10-25 cm.
Roots: Rhizomes elongate, prostrate. The stem is erect, with 3-4 leaves near base.
Leaves are ovate or ovate-oblong, thickly fleshy, 3-7cm long and 1.7-3cm wide, blackish green above, with 5 gold-red glossy veins, abaxially reddish.
Flowers: racemes terminal, with several to more than 10 flowers. Flowers are white or reddish, ca. 7 mm in diameter.
Flowering period: 2-4 months.

Habitat: Ludisia discolor likes shady or moist places under evergreen broad-leaved forests on hillsides or valleys.
